'88 Iroc Speedometer works....then stops
'88 Iroc Speedometer works....then stops
I just bought my brothers old car, its an '88 iroc with an L98. Its got a whole heap of issues that can all be fixed but one (the most prominent) is baffling me.
When you first start and drive the car the speedometer and odometer works fine. After the car fully warms up the speedometer will drop to 0 and not move. The odometer switches back and forth between 07989 and 29768. The trip odometer does not do anything. The car then throws code 24 (speed sensor circuit)
The car has new speedometer cables and the speedo gear housing and gear have been replaced.
Has anybody run into this issue before? It is the 140mph speedometer.
Thanks,
Wyatt

Need 4 Speed-----ometer
Gain access to the buffer which looks like this:

It’s located behind the instrument panel at the right on most VINS.
Connect an audio amplifier to terminal A yellow wire to make sure it’s getting a steady signal.
Ground to ground, the signal wire to terminal A yellow wire of the VSS.
With the car on jackstands listed for a hum from the amplifier when the rear wheels are rotating.
If you do, then find out if you get a hum from terminal C tan wire.
The tan wire then goes to the speedometer unit.
If it gets to the speedometer but the speedometer does not work, have it repaired or replace the unit.

How Come Some Drivers On The Street Don’t Know How To Make A Turn In One Direction Without Starting By Turning In The Opposite Direction?
