Phantom discharge

I just put the engine and trans back in after about six months, no problems previously. hooked up the battery, tested out my new HSR, set it up, let it run for a while and shut it off. Within 12 hours the battery was down to .98 volts. The battery's relatively new, been on trickle charge all winter, alternator is charging. The car has power nothing...and no audio, no remote, no alarm. Fans, fuel pump, lights (in and out) were all off. Any thoughts on what would draw that kind of juice. I replaced all the firewall relays ( MAF, fuel pump, etc) could it be one of those or ECM. I guess I'm looking for the biggest culprits and then start yanking fuses. Any suggestions would help. thanks

Re: Phantom discharge

Install an amp meter between the negative battery cable and battery post. Measure your current draw, then start disconnecting things to isolate the cause.

By the way, that's a HUGE draw you have. You could also touch various items to see if there's something rather warm when the rest of the car has been off for hours, that might give you a good starting point if you don't have an amp meter.

Re: Phantom discharge

Thanks, good advice. I figured it was a big draw to do that and didn't want to drive the car in case there's a short somewhere that leaves me stranded or worse...
