Need some dash wiring help..

Hello, I have just bought a 84 2.8, and im having some problems with the dash.

First off, the speedo doesn't work. But the gas gauge does.
second, the oil gauge and temp gauge stay in the red (the electronic ones without a needle)
Third, the checkengine light doesn't come on (i clearly know it should, because the car runs choppy from acceleration from a stop)
and fourth, the two blinker lights come on and stay on with the parking lights or headlights on.

Anyone got a wiring diagram or any ideas??? im stuck :\

Not a pro by any means, but here is some ideas.

1. Check your speedometer cable, could be loose/not attached to the back of the cluster or trans, or the drive gears for the speedo could be stripped in the trans.

2. Could be bad sending units, bad fuse possibly, shorted or disconnected wires to the senders. Coolant sender should be on the front corner of the drivers side head with a green wire with white stripe. Oil pressure sending unit should be in close proximity to your oil filter with 2 wires, I think yellow and black.

3. Check engine light could be a short, burnt out bulb, or cut wires.

4. Not too sure about this one. Do you mean the blinker indicators on the dash come on solid with the headlights? If so make sure the right bulbs are installed in your blinkers.

Your engine may be slightly different from mine being an 84, but I too have the 2.8, albeit from 89. A FSM would be great to have, as it will have wiring diagrams for you. But someone else will probably post up some troubleshooting advice as well.

Good luck!
