convert side post battery terminals to top post battery terminals
I have a 87 GTA and I want to convert the side post terminals to top post terminals. I have the side post bolts that have the accessory nut to hook up a car alarm siren to the post side terminal. Anyway the bolts got cross threaded in the battery. So I think it screwed up the the bolt holes and the bolts. I have to disconnect the battery when the car sits to long, as the car alarm will drain the battery. Also the car is put in storage in the winter time so the side post bolts have to come out as well as the battery. I'm just po'ed about the whole thing.

I had the same problem with my show truck (avatar), I went to a duel post battery and use the top positive post for accessories. Then I added one of these to the negative cable; http://www.summitracing.com/parts/lng-45748/overview/

Re: convert side post battery terminals to top post battery terminals
A mechanic once told me that some battery's converted to top post from side posts can be a lot closer to the hoods location when closed .
Also if you need a place to draw constant power from there is a "power terminal/ junction block " mounted close to the battery on the frame.
It has a lead coming off of the positive battery cable going to it and is where fans ,etc draw there power from .
It is very hot at all times so disconnect the battery ,both positive and negative before touching it.
Looks like this on my car =
