Help i live in a hot area and i need ac to work

hey i have been having some problem with my ac. i turn on the ac and the air comes out through the vents and wont come out any where else. this happened after i changed out the ac constroler box. i changed it because i thought my old one was bad because the guy that own this car before me said he could turn off the car and the ac without unpluging the ac control box because it would send a short through out the car. so i figured the control box was bad so i got one at a junk yard for $45, and now i'm having this problem. Was i wrong for switching out the box? Was that what was really causing the short the guy was talking about? If i have to get another ac control box i would like to get it new. To at least be sure it works.

(and also the air come not to strong and is not cold; i know it maybe associated with fact that i had my vacuum canceled because it was leaking.)
Please help, i live in south Texas ans it's been over 100 degrees. i need ac. bad.
Thank you.

OK the priority is get cold air pouring out of those vents, even tho you don’t have a choice of vents yet.

When you turn the selector switch to AC does the compressor run?

If no, use a voltage tester, with the key in the run position, AC requested, probe both sides of the AC mode switch.

One side the wire is
brown.

The other wire is
light green.

Is there power both sides?

Happy Racing !
