91 Firebird headlight module?
The headlight module in my 91 Trans Am went bad, any idea what year birds I can pull them module from to replace mine? I know they changed them at one point but I can't remember which year that was. Thanks

Your '91 Bird will use a headlight control module from a '90 thru 2002 Firebird. I have them available if you can't find one.

Hi Lon ,
I have read elsewhere that in our third gen lights controller , the 90 through 92 are somehow different , even though they use a two wire motor like the 87 through 92 , and not the three wire like the 82 through 86 . Is it just the controller that is different , or are the motors different too ?

Trust whatever source of information you choose. However if you want the correct answer for what model years will work for your '90 Firebird, take a look at my last post. If you prefer to limit yourself to just three model years, then look for a 90-92 which will work, but are far less abundant than the '93 thru '02 Firebird modules which also will also work fine for your '90. The choice is entirely yours. Do not use a '87 thru '89 model module as I can guarantee it will not work for your '90.

PS: I test the '90 thru '02 modules I sell on my friends 1990 Firebird TA, so I can accurately answer that it WILL work correctly for your car.

Lon , I was not challenging your info , as I believe you 100% .....
What I was asking , and maybe my question was misunderstood , is exactly what IS it that is different between the 87 through 89 , which have two wire motors , and the 90 through 92 which also have two wire motors . I fully understand why the older three wire units are different and was simply curious if the difference in the two wire ones was a difference in something like the wiring connections of the module or maybe even motors of different resistances/amp draw , things of that nature . But if you care not to discuss the electrical nuances and differences across the model years then sorry to have bothered you , fool am I to go looking for discussion in a discussion forum .....

Re: 91 Firebird headlight module?
The wiring output to the motors was changed, so the modules were changed too.
