88 digi dash not lighting

Car: 1988 Gta trans am
Engine: LR4 4.8
Transmission: 98-02 t56 6 speed
Axle/Gears: Bw 9 bolt (3.70’s) pbr rotors
88 digi dash not lighting
Ok i have a 88 gta digi dash car the problem im having is that the dash lights dont wanna light the cluster on when the key is turned on. The wierd thing though is that if i turn the interior lighting/dimmer up all the way the dash lights up what could be wrong should i replace the dimmer switch and see if that fixes the problem
