Auto to manual swap trunk release button with parking brake
Im looking on how I can wire the trunk release button to work when the parking break is engaged only. I had an automatic and swapped the t56. don't want the trunk opening while driving. Can anyone lead me in the right direction or thread? I've been looking but bo luck.
Thanks,
Ben

one easy way to do it would be to cut one of the wires that go to the switch (power wire if it were me) and add a clutch type switch (one you have to push in for it to be off) in where you cut the wire ... set the clutch type switch just under the lever (still hidden in the console) so that when you lift the lever it lets the button off, and adds power to the hatch switch ... if there is no room under the lever, you could always use a motorcycle foot brake light with the spring to pull it on when you lift the lever ... either should be an easy way to do it that wont cost much

Here's the factory Shop manual schematic:

Remove the shifter bezel and cut the YELLOW wire leading to the hatch solenoid relay. Cap end of yellow wire leading from the dash harness.
Cut the Tan/White wire leading away from the E-Brake switch.
Splice the TAN/White wire from the brake switch to the Yellow wire ( leading from the relay ).
What you just did was modify the set-up to work the same way as the factory manual cars were designed. The E-Brake lever will need to be pulled up in order for the hatch button to work.
