i have a 1991 camaro z28 305 tpi 5 speed and it wont turn. it has occasionally done this in the past but worked itself out but it hasnt given yet this time. i have bypassed the vats by using a different tumbler and the right numbered key. i turn the key and i hear a click coming from the fuse box, fuel pump and everything comes on like normal. when turning the key the brake warning comes on but there is no security warning. is it possible the starter suddenly took a permanent crap or is there something before that preventing it to turn over ? thanks in advance!!

Not super familiar with manual transmission electronics, but might want to check that the clutch switch isn't going out.

 

thanks everyone for the help. Turns out it was the solenoid on the starter. It had power to both terminals with the key turnred. i whacked the solenoid and the starter engaged. replaced starter. im just curious as to who the idiot who designed the dust shield with the bolt behind the oil filter? that was a pain! i wouldve just taken the filter off had i not just changed the oil while under there !
