car starting problems

Hello all! Restoring a 92 RS 305 tbi camaro and I'm having trouble with starting her up, I had to retap the bolt holes on the distributor cap to a larger screw size because the previous owner stripped them, afterwards I reconnected my spark plug wires (and reconnected them 2 more times the same way according to the Haynes repair manual) and yet I'm having pproblems starting her up. I simply turn the key and sometimes she'll sound like she'll turn over so when I stop the ignition, she doesn't and dies, if I turn the ignition on for a long time she still won't turn over, the ONLY way she'll turn over is if I hit the gas pedal in the small spots where she sounds like she wants to turn over. Then bam she's idling and driving like a million bucks no misfires or anything, please help?

Re: car starting problems

I'm not exactly sure where to start with this, but since it began happening after doing the distributor cap, I'd double check the timing (make sure you disconnect the ecm single-wire plug thing, I forget the correct name for it) and triple-check that you have the firing order correct on the plug wires.
