87 Trunk pop, need to "hotwire" asap

Anyone know how to hotwire the trunk pop. The key on my 87 was changed and the pop is the only way to open it. My car is currently apart for my ls swap so not everything is hooked up. I have power to the inside (ran the starter wires to the battery)

Thanks for any help!

Jay

Only two wires to deal with. There is a black ground wire with serrated ring terminal that is attached to the 10mm screw that attaches the hatch solenoid release to the latch assy. The other end goes to the body ground location below the pull-down unit.

The other wire is also black. It is the positive wire that trips the solenoid. It is plugged into the end of the solenoid release. That is the wire that you'll need to somehow supply power to in order to activate the solenoid.

Under the console you should find a three position connector. The three wires are orange (constant 12v), brown/white (parking brake switch), and black (hatch pop).

You should be able to jump orange and black to open the hatch.

Don't know on the 92. Look under the console to see if it has the same connector and wires. I just installed a Bulldog keyless entry on my 89 Camaro and I tied a relay into that connector. Closing the relay on the black and orange wire pops the hatch perfectly.
