Headlights don't work!!

I had gotten some angel eye headlights for Christmas this past year and we hooked them up and everything was working great until the headlights would flicker when on high beams and then when I'd go back to low beams they'd be fine. For about 2-3 weeks it does that and then all of a sudden I can't cut on my headlights. All my other lights, dash lights, tail lights, parking lights and not my headlights. Not sure what to check or look for by now. I know the headlights are plugged in and everything.

Re: Headlights don't work!!

The headlight switch may have burnt out, likely due to a short somewhere. There is a release for the shaft/**** that you pull on, then a plastic nut (this will likely break due to being brittle and old) that you have to remove. It's a slight pain to get to. You have to pull the dash pad, and pull 2 connectors and wiggle it out the top...or pull the dash assembly, which is what I had to do because of my fat hands. Either way, the switch itself is very inexpensive at your local O'Reilly's or JY.

So it is the headlight switch bad? I've been thinking it's that just don't wanna pull everything out and it not be that! Thanks also how hard was the guage assembly to remove?

Re: Headlights don't work!!

I have the same issue (hella glass housings with H4 bulbs and H1 bulbs so low is the outer 2, high is all 4; high will shut them off.)

My understanding is the 4 bulbs altogether is more amperage through the headlight switch than it is designed for and the shut off is a safety.

Ultimately, you should run a relay setup. If yours is like mine, you might get by temporarily using just the outer-highs or the inners only for high.

(Dad lol'ed when I described the issue " that much amperage through your headlight switch!" and said the bulbs like mine are common in motorcycles)

Well none of my headlights work at the moment and before they quit when my high beams were on the 2 inner lights were on and the 2 outside lights were very barely lit up and it was vice versa when my low beam were on...so your saying my headlight switch is burnt up?

Re: Headlights don't work!!

I don't know; mine never killed my switch. If your switch has power going to it but doesn't have power output (or allowance of continuity) when lo or hi are switched on, it may be bad.

A factory service manual is good to have in cases like this, IMO.

I just replaced my headlight switch and that indeed was the problem but now it is back to the flickering. Any ideas?
