Swapping the TPI motor and computer from a 88 trans am into a 1987 camaro (v6). The camaro has the plain jane dummy light set up, the one with the 85mph speedo and a fuel tank, that's it. I plan to go to all aftermarket gauges later, but for now i was wondering if the 87 speedo and fuel gauge will function on the 88 trans am ecm. I know the t/a has a completely different dash set up, and the dash side harnesses are different. Even if its not plug and play, would modifying it to work be a headache?

 

The 88 ECM (Trans Am only for 88) will have VATs which will have to be tuned out. Speedo will be mechanical so it will function, fuel will be sent from sender to gauge so it will function, assuming you retain the Camaro dash harness (and you should).
