Odometer has stopped !
And i know why....ever since i done the engine swap things have been affected, i went from a 5.0 TPI in my 87 GTA, to a 5.7 TPI from another 87 GTA, but a hardtop and i think possibly the donor car had a digital dash, and mine has the analouge one so theres probably a few differences.
Anyway the speedo and odomter stopped working and it was crossed wires from the engine bay to the speed buffer causing the speedo to stop working so my friend sorted that, but he couldnt trace the wires that make the odomter work, he assumed they would be shared with the speedo but obviously not.
Any ideas ? id like to keep my cars mileage counting up, its missed a few hundred miles now already

You may have suffered the dreaded crumbling gear problem I have seen in a few of these cars. For some reason, 1 gear in the speedo that runs the odometer and trip odometer just turns to dust....

Im pretty sure its electrical. both the speedo and odometer were working perfectly before the engine swap, then afterwards nothing. We ran new wires from the speed sendor and the speedo is working again.
Im just not sure where the wires are for the odometer

Re: Odometer has stopped !
I did a motor / trans swap and the car sat for a while, the Speedo wasn't hooked up when it finally got running. When I tested the cluster on another car the speedo worked but not the odometer. Come to find out the gear the little motor drives froze up and chipped off part of a tooth. I carefully got the gear loose and lubed it up. It works now despite a partially broken tooth.
