Power windows cause motor to shut off?
Power windows cause motor to shut off?
Hey all,
I bought a 1992 Formula 3 days ago with 72000 original kms. Anyways, today, I rolled my power windows down, and when i went to hit the switch to bring them back up again, the engine shut off. I drove the car earlier today with the windows down and brought them up no problem. I tried a few times to bring the windows up, but every time it was like the motor was stalling out. How is it even possible that the windows effect the engine? Does anybody have any ideas what caused this and how to possibly fix it? Thanks, Phil

Re: Power windows cause motor to shut off?
I had the same problem today. When I attempted to roll the window up it caused the engine to bog down after I had the window motor replaced. I pulled the door panel off and found out that the wire had part of the metal exposed. Once I taped the wire up. The window works fine now. It was a short in the wiring. So I suggest check the wire that controls the window motor. Hope that helps.
