Charging issue?

My friend was out in his car tonight and was driving back from work. He had dim headlights so I told him to shut the stereo off. Like a dumbass he decided he needed to get into a race. I guess now he is stuck and his car will not go over 20 miles an hour and the headlights are really dim. Is this an alternator that just gave out?

Re: Charging issue?

Just for some info. Alternator tested good and put a new battery in, still not charging. Any ideas on where the problem could be happening? 87 Firebird

Re: Charging issue?

How is the wiring from the alternator to the starter and into the harness? check for corrosion, bad connections and anything else that looks weird.
