83 Camaro LG4 Timing

Been a while since I dabbled in cars and need some help pls. I have a 83 Camaro z-28 LG4 Mnaul trans, with a Edelbrock RPM Air Gap intake, edelbrock 600 carb and exhaust. How many degrees should I set my Initial and total advanced Timing? Any help is appreciated.

Re: 83 Camaro LG4 Timing

After you take the stock computer-controlled one out and replace it with a centrifugal/vacuum controlled one, you should set it for around 36° "total" (vac disconnected, 3500 RPM). Static should probably end up around 12 - 15°. Vac adv should add maybe 12° or a bit more on top of that, for around 48 - 50° at cruise. Something real basic about like this http://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-850001r/overview/ should be totally adequate.

Let me ask you this, what if it is a stock computer-controlled dist? Need to check not at home.

Put it in the same storage space as the stock computer controlled carb.

without the carb sensors hooked up and everything functioning correctly, the est dist will operate on the limp home timing curve built into the icm. Very lazy.
