PULL DOWN HATCH ADJUSTMENT

Using a screw driver or my finger, the hatch motor pulls down but once it is all the way down it comes right back up.

With the hatch closed it will pull down but then keeps running.

Lon was thinking the screw drive gear deal, so I purchased that but still the same issue.

Is there a 'stop' adjustment or something along those lines that needs adjusted? I'm wanting to sell the car but I can't list with a non closing hatch.

Thanks for any help.

Re: PULL DOWN HATCH ADJUSTMENT

There is a reversing limit switch in the mechanism that is probably worn out, or the grease has dried up and keeping it from working right. Not available new from anywhere. I fought this for a long time, finally put a manual switch under the license plate. Gets real complicated. You might find a complete replacement mechanism now and then, but it won't have that switch in it, no help.

That's funny. That is the exact solution I came up with. Toggle it is. Thank you.

Re: PULL DOWN HATCH ADJUSTMENT

TDS sells the reversing toggle switch, if you need it. Not a cheap part though (due to it not being in production) so you may want to check a local junkyard. TDS part is reconditioned though so if you want hassle free it may be the way to go. I just finished troubleshooting my hatch, so I've become pretty familiar with the circuit. If you just press down the striker switch with the hatch open, does it go down and stop?

Re: PULL DOWN HATCH ADJUSTMENT

So when you say that it keeps running when it goes down, does it start coming back up or just keep trying to pull it down? If it's trying to pull it down then you can loosen the three bolts holding the assembly down and move the unit up a little. As far as going down and coming back up immediately, you are holding the striker switch down the entire time correct? If that's the case I'm thinking the white wire is being shorted to ground somehow. Try taking off the relay and disconnecting the light and see if it still does it.

Disconnected the white wire and she's working as she should.

Thank you!
