good battery and altenator not charging

1992 camaro Z28 305 tpi---I have read about this for days and still cannot get more than 12.50 volts from any where. Jumped wire from batt to altenator got same result, have 12.50 volt at plug as well. Before I changed my alt and battery the gauge went up and down with the rpms ,but now it stays at around 10-12 on gauge and this just kinda happened out of the blue one day I hammered the gas and my gauge dropped and car died. I also have checked all the cables and they seem to be ok

Re: good battery and altenator not charging

sounds like a bad battery cable connection(probably at the starter post)since car died when you hammered the gas...For better, more specific response, you should fill in car specs(year, engine, etc.)in your profile or mention specs in the post
