Pull down hatch 1987 camaro HELP
Hey guys I'm trying to find out what wire (red/white) kind of thing activates the hatch motor to pull down the trunk. I believe I may have cut it when I was swapping engines. Thanks!

First off make sure you are getting power from the red wire with white stripe coming from the bundle on the driver's side of the car in the trunk. It should be always hot. If you aren't, then check the fuse and if that's not blown then you'll have to start figuring out where the power is dropping out.
If you are getting power at the red/wht wire, then it will be a problem in the wires right where the hatch is (the only external inputs to the hatch area are power and the hatch pop solenoid wire). I can look at my service manual's wiring diagram once I get off work, but if you are able to verify the red/wht wire having power it would be helpful.

So I just bought a camaro 87 vert and the tonneau switch does not work. I also checked the pull down motor and there a lot of cut cables 😧 so I need help rewiring the truck pull down to see if that will fix the tonneau switch

Very late response but mine for what ever reason just crapped itself and the latch didnt want to come up to grab the trunk to pull down. So all I did is disconnect the battery, attach it again then push with a screwdriver on the latch and the trunk motor started humming and it worked. Nothing was wrong just messed up somehow...

This is the TECH ARTICLE that I posted here on TGO a LONG time ago. It will help you diagnose and repair your pull-down unit.

Yes I still sell all the parts to repair these 86-87, 88-91 and 91.5-92 pull-down units. Lots of other interesting topics covered in the TECH ARTICLES section of Thirdgen.org.

Ok , I gotta admit to not being any kinds of rocket scientist , so , can anybody here tell me which step of the procedure "replace engine" includes "mess with trunk wiring" ? Thread
