VATS tripped

I replaced the interior wiring harness in my 1988 Trans am 5.7. I swapped out the VATS boxes so it would match my key. All connections are hooked up correctly. When I went to start it the security light is on. No crank or anything. All ACC work as needed. The brake lights stay on. I installed a VATS bypass today from thirdgen and it still did not work. This is my daily driver and I HAVE to get it on the road ASAP.

Re: VATS tripped

Seems like there is a procedure where you have to leave your door open with the key on for like 10 minutes to reset it. I recall hearing that. I've never had VATS so that's all I can think of.

Re: VATS tripped

I ended up pulling the TPI setup and harness and went old school. I installed a carb and TPI distributor. I also went electric fuel pump.

Re: VATS tripped

I was going to suggest swapping the vats boxes back but oh well.

THIS. I'm daily driving a 351w bronco with a carb and would trade my wife in a heart beat to daily something with fuel injection. I'm tired of tinkering with it. I gotta get my real daily back on the road again..... carb'd v8 is killing my wallet.

I remember those days well. Having to kick down the fast idle. The choke pull offs screwing up. Nice gas smell when things were running a little rich etc.

Re: VATS tripped

My electric choke jammed up, I took it off, so my fast idle on cold days is my right foot lol.
