Wires were cut - what were they for?? Help

An 84 Firebird SE - was a 305 Carb - 700 R4. I am working on rust repair. I removed the plastic piece from the passenger front wheel well and found all of these wires cut.. Prior to tearing the car apart, I had the car running, drivable, lights worked, etc. I have a shop manual for this car. However, I cannot quite grasp what these were for. They appear to go into a computer box (s) under the plastic on the passenger side. I am updating the motor to a 5.7, tranny will remain the same although it is updated. Any and all thoughts or help will be greatly appreciated. thx byron

ECM harness to the ECM under the pass side hush panel. I 'assume' your car was successfully converted to mech carb/mech distributor?

The remainder of the harness can be pulled through and the ECM removed. It's no longer doing anything.

Yes, the part that is missing would normally go up through the rear of the wheel well and behind the strut tower and then over to the engine via the same black conduit.
Looks like they may have cut it and let the rest fall inside.
