how do i get the dash off?

i need to get the dash off for a group of reasons...my gauges, my speakers, my vents....but i am not sure how to do. i heard it was just the tiny bolt scews that you see and nothing else...but i wanted to make sure before i start fiddling around. how many screws are there exactly...and where might i locate them. thank yous in advance.

i guess your working on a 3rd gen camaro, so it should be pretty easy.

First, with the speakers, you need to take the dash top off.

There should be some (i think 5/16) hex head screws just under the the overhang. Take those out. There are also 4 (either hex head or phillips head) screws by the defroster vents in the middle. After you get them all out, it just lifts up and out (just be careful, a bit of padding is somtimes under it).

That will give you access to the speakers.

For the gauges, you need some torx screwdrivers. Just take out the torx screws around the guage cover, and it will come right off. After that you need the (5/16?) nut driver to take out some more hex head screws around the clear plastic cover. The only other peice in there would be the black metal black outs that reflects the light back toward the gauges. A few more screws and thats out too, leaving you access to just the guages, and the 20 or so little light bulbs behind the guages. AT least thats what i get with my '88 camaro.

to put it back together just do the opposite.
