Map Sensor Ground Issue? Symptoms?

So i was driving home last night and coming down a hill, cars starts to bog throw a engine light. (Haven't checked code yet) Got it stopped, looked under hood and sounded to me like a timing issue. i rotated the cap a little and it seemed to idle perfect. drove another 50 miles, and no problems. Happened again 2 miles from home. Backfiring and stalling when applying throttle. Managed to play with the cap and got it home. Cap appears to be tight, is this related to a faulty MAP sensor? my educated guess its the ground wire on the map, it looks extremely frail and brittle. What would be symptoms if its the ground? I do not have a multi meter on hand.

Check the code first, car is trying to tell you something, see what it has to say. Next, unplug your MAP sensor while the car is running and see if it duplicates the problem you have been seeing. If so, it's the frail wire, repair it anyway; if not, you may have fuel supply related issues. Check the code.

Best bet is to follow proper diagnostic and troubleshooting techniques instead of guessing.
