1984 Trans Am Turn Signal Problem
1984 Trans Am Turn Signal Problem
Hey guys, about a month ago I bought a 84 trans am.
About 2 weeks ago I noticed that whenever I turn on the left turn signal, all the lights flash (including the license plate light). When I turn the headlights/parking lights on, the left blinker stays solid when turned on. The blinker in the dash does not blink for the left, only the right.
I've replaced all the bulbs, cleaned all the sockets out, re-crimped the ground wires in the back, taken the grounds off and cleaned them.
I also replaced all the fuses. Hazards work just fine. Right signal works just fine.
When I press the brake, the parking lights come on as well...
Also when i disconnect the grounds in the back, I turn on the left signal and the front parking lights flashed.
Please help

It’s possible it was mis-wired by the PO.
As a driver, you’ve probably seen how the fearful drivers put ridiculously bright or flashing brake-light bulbs in the sockets.
Make sure all bulbs are the correct type.
Make sure all 3 contact bulbs are not installed backwards.
Some wild symptoms have been reported when bulbs are the incorrect type or installed 180° out of phase.
Make sure all the ground wires back there make a good connection to chassis ground.
If all of above is normal, remove the STOP HAZ fuse.
Now, with a fused jumper wire, (15 or 20 amp is fine) jump the + battery terminal to one of the light blue wires going to the brake-light bulbs.
What happens when you do that?
