No dash lights or radio

On my 84 Trans am I have no dash lights or radio. I haven't looked into to far yet but is there any wiring link between the two of them? All my other lights work, parking lights, taillights, light in the ash tray, foot well light, door chime etc all work.

Start by checking the fuses first.

Re: No dash lights or radio

Does your shift indicator light also not work? (The light under the PRND21 panel). That one is on the same circuit as the Defogger control light, radio light, and heater-a/c control light, and the instrument panel lights. They all go through the INST FUSE (5A) to the dimming control by the headlight switch. The ashtray light is on a separate branch.
Do you hear the chime if you leave your lights on?

Re: No dash lights or radio

The shift indicator lights are also out. I will check to see if the chime comes on if I leave the lights on. I do know the chime works when the door is open. I checked the 5a fuse and it was good. The car sat for a long time in a barn before I got it so I'm starting to think mice may have chewed on some wires.

OK so I figure out my lighting issue. It was tied in with the radio that was not functioning. All dash lights now work just have to find a radio to put in the car.

I am having a problem with my dash lights.None of my interior lights that come on when park light/headlight switch is activated. Also"headlight on "chime does not work. The 5a fuse for dash lights keeps blowing.I changed the chime relay and everything worked a few times and stopped. Now I am blowing the fuse again and chime doesn't sound

You should start your own thread. You need to inspect for a short in your wiring somewhere. Bare wire touching metal. Did you do any work in the vehicle right before this started? If so, that could lead you to the problem area.
