No start issue

I had to do a battery relocation back to the stock position in my 1992 z28 l98. I had the car running for awhile shut it off and when i went to start it again for service it was no start. Key turns and all lights come on but nothing happens. Battery is brand new and tests ok. I have power down to starter and i can turn the starter over using my powerprobe to the solinoid and applying power to it. All wires and grounds are tight and clean. Here is what i found the power wire going from battery to starter must have rubbed against header and you can see exposed wiring where it touched and probably grounded off the header itself. Would this blow a fuse and which one? I checked the fuses i could see under left footwell area with a test light and they all test ok. Are there more fuses somewhere that i am missing? Thanks guys.

Re: No start issue

You have power from the battery to the starter on the large cable. You can turn the motor over by applying power to the solenoid but not with the key. Sounds like a VATS problem. Power goes from ignition switch to neutral safety (or clutch) switch then to starter relay and then to solenoid. You'll need to trace back from solenoid to see where you are losing the start signal. Remember, when testing for power, you need the key in start position so may need an extra set of hands. If you find that the starter relay is not being commanded on, then probably VATS and you will need to troubleshoot that problem. For wiring diagrams, AustinThirdgen has what you need.

Re: No start issue

Thanks for the reply. I will look into the vats issue. I guess it was maybe just one of things i never had a issue with and i saw that power wire rubbed through and thought maybe that caused something to blow. Just one of those things you know. Thanks again
