Temporary vats fix
Hey, i was wondering: if i ripped the speaker off a headphone and plugged the positive wire into the vats signal wire to the ecu, would i be able to play a 30 hz tone and trick the ecu into thinking the vats is operational?

Re: Temporary vats fix
Bummer, my vats module went bad, so I built a little circuit to send the 30hz signal to the ecu. Well i must have done something wrong, as i only have a basic understanding of electronics and the circuit i built stopped working after 4 or 5 times starting my car. So I ordered one on the interweb and I'm just trying figure something out for until it gets here as this is my daily driver

First determine if the module itself or the lock cylinder. Then you either have to bypass the starter relay and get VATs deleted off your prom, or find the resistance in your key and put that resistance into the wiring going from the ignition (tricks the box into thinking the key is always there). Don't try "experimenting", that can really mess stuff up.
How did you come up with 30Hz? Where were you tapping it into?

I had the resister bypass for a while and it stopped working. I'm rather certain it is the vats module that is bad, as I've tested continuity on all wires involved and they check out.

Re: Temporary vats fix
My bin requires 33 - 66hz. If yours is the same you should be aiming for closer to 50hz.
Apparently yours is supposed to be a 30hz signal.
Or it could be a voltage issue.
