oil pressure sending unit wiring. '89 Factory 3 pin connector
Anyone know or can check for me which wires go to which pin on the oil pressure sending unit. If you're looking down the length of the oil sending unit with the pins facing you in a triangle formation, I know the top pin is the signal wire to the instrument panel gauge. Is the left pin ground? My best guess is it is and the right pin is power. Can anyone confirm that for me? Also when I'm measuring resistance between the pins to see if I'm getting the correct resistance, is it supposed to be between the signal wire and ground or what? Right now the only time I get any reading is between the power and ground pins and I'm getting .2 ohms. This is with the car running and I know there's oil pressure, I can see the rocker valley has oil moving around in there.. Any help would be appreciated.. thanks..

Bruce,
The other two pins on the sender are for the fuel pump switch (orange & gray wires). The switch closes when the oil pressure is greater than about 4 psig. The switch is paralleled with the ECM controlled fuel pump relay contacts, so either may power the fuel pump. The sender ground is connected to the metal body of the sender & grounds through the engine block. The sender output (tan wire) should read 0 ohms @ 0 psig & 90 ohms @ 60 psig.
