getting stumped-Windows
Hey All,
I have an 84 TA with Big Block and Muncie Swap. Completed the swap about ten years ago. Since i have only put about 4000 miles on it. ANYWAY I took it for a ride the other day got home and parked it back the garage. ( i do have a battery disconnect in it and use it every time i park) I got to put the windows yesterday and i've got nothing, I pulled the center console and pretty much the rest of the interior, checked all connections under the dash, reviewed the wiring schematic, and replace all the fuses in the fuse box. I still have no power to the window motors. Window switches are replaced. By chance has any one encounter this issue, or have any ideas???

You sure theres no power to the motors? Did you check for voltage at the connector?
Sometimes when I don't drive my car for even a month or so the window & even the power mirrors wont work due to lack of use.Have to push the switchs up/doen til the motor warms up & turns again.

Windows Problem, But Computer OK
The windows have a common circuit amp breaker instead of fuses.
Check the breaker for 12 volts in and out.
The breaker is located in the fuse block to the left of the steering column.
If the breaker is OK use a test light (the type for testing for voltage, not a continuity tester)
or voltmeter to see if you have power at the pink wire going to the switches.
Is there power there?
The breaker is located in the fuse block to the left of the steering column.
The fuse block is located behind the knee bolster inside a door which is a part a the knee bolster.

Re: getting stumped-Windows
I am having a similar issue on my 91 Firebird.
There's no power to the pink wire on the window switches.
At the fuse block, if I remove the WDO breaker, I get 12V to one of the pins. I would expect the other pin to be connected to the pink wire on the window switches, but it isn't (infinite resistance if I use a multimeter set to Ohms between the two)
The breaker has 0 Ohms resistance across it - does that mean it's OK?
Any ideas as to where to check next?

Yes, the breaker is ok. Yes you should have continuity between the pink wire from the fuse block to the window switches. You will have to check to see where the pink wire is disconnected/broken. It sounds like you know what you are doing so go for it, you'll have to trace the pink wire through the harness to find the break. There may be an intermediate connector somewhere that has come apart or possibly a pin got pushed out and not making good contact. HTH and GL!

Re: getting stumped-Windows
Thanks BigAl, that does help a lot, as it confirms where I thought things should be - I can read a wiring diagram and a multimeter, I build 3D printers all day, but cars are a pain because circuits follow strange paths and there's always a risk of messing up your car badly...
Just to be really clear for my next attack at this, does anyone know exactly what path the pink wire takes from the fuse block to the window switches, and what opportunities to come apart there are on the way?
I should mention that the car did have working windows at one point, but intermittent starting, and I have fixed the starting by swapping the fuel pump relay (broken) with the air con relay (works) - could these things be at all related, or is it just coincidence?
I also did wiring around the stereo area... could I have provoked an issue there?
