Console wiring

So I'm trying to reassemble the interior in my project '90 T/A. I bought the car in a partial state of dis-assembly, so now that the paint is done, I am trying figure out what goes where. I have a tray full of small parts and fasteners and as I was putting the console back together, I found a couple of anomalies in the wiring. I can't find a plug for the storage compartment light, but I found 2 wires with pins on the end that might be intended for that. I also found a gray plastic thing-a-ma-jig with a bunch of wires plugged into it. I have attached a picture of same.

If, in fact, the 2 loose wires belong in a plug-like device that would then allow the storage compartment light to function, where the heck can I get one?

What does the gray device do and is it supposed to plug into something or does it just float freely in the deep dark recesses of the console?

TIA

Geoff

Re: Console wiring

Confirm the plug definitions. Assuming the vehicle does have power
mirrors (controlled by a single switch), & power windows (with a
dedicated switch for each window) the connections are pretty
self-correcting. While possible to reverse the right & left window
connections, if memory serves correctly, the main harness comes in
from the driver side, and the passenger window switch has slightly
longer wires.

If you have/can acquire a compartment light, those pins should
easily re-install. You might have to carefully bend open the
retaining tabs a bit.

In general, orange wires are constant power, and black is ground.

Good luck, & keep us posted.
