Steering column help?
Hey guys I'm new to this forum, I have a red, black, and silver 1983 Camaro Z28 with a stock 305 sbc that has the 600cfm quadrajet, a 5 speed manual which I believe is a T5, and 3.73 gears with either posi or limited slip. The person I bought the car from had changed the steering column and it was never put together the right way. The wiper switch is bad but I have a new one and the ignition switch is bypassed with a push button start. If anyone has a schematics to show where all of the different rods, switches, and harnesses are supposed to be. Thanks in advance.

Re: Steering column help?
82 and 83 Thirdgens need a column from another 82-83,... other years are not compatible due to the specific Wiper motor / wiper switch used those years. It's possible that the replacement column the PO used was not the correct 'vintage'.
I do not know if the 82-83 wiper switch can be installed into an 84-89 column properly. I ASSUME that it would fit - but do not KNOW that !
Pretty sure the ignition box at the base of the column is similar from all 82-92's. ( manual ignition boxes OR non tilt boxes are mounted backwards from auto OR tilt - but that's for another thread ! ) I'm guessing that the push button was something custom that the PO did because he wanted too, not because he had to.

Re: Steering column help?
Now have you any idea if I can just get a universal GM column online and have it work as long as its the right length and spline?
