Car wont start
Car wont start
Hi I am looking at a 1987 camaro in 2 weeks(soonest date that worked for both of us) and it wont start. I am not real familiar with fuel injection but want to learn how it all works so I think this car will be a good project. Anybody have any clue what could be wrong with it? Any help appreciated. Here is what is done to the car
Engine:
Rebuilt 350 engine (bottom end work done at C&P machine shop, have the receipt)
Brand new aluminum heads
Comp cams cam (don't remember the specs, I think it is 260 XFI or something similar)
Holley Stealth Ram intake manifold and plenum
Factor TPI throttle body
TPI computer with a programmed chip
Ceramic coated hooker headers
Stainles Steel exhaust with Flowmaster muffler.
Then this is what the seller said about the problem:
The car ran and drove around the block about year and a half ago with wiring harness out. Since then, the ECM has been mounted on the passenger side, under the dash. Unfortunately the car will not start right now. It cranks fine, fuel pump running and there is spark. The issue is that the injectors are not firing. Noid light just stays on. I was in process of troubleshooting, but now lost all interest in this car. My family is growing and other hobbies have taken the priority.
Also here is the add if you want to see it

Re: Car wont start
It will also come with a dealer style manual to help me out and learn about the cars whole electrical system. Also if the noid light is on doesnt that mean the injectors are pulsating so they should fire right? And is the car able to actually run without the wiring harness out? Sorry for all the questions, I am new to this

Re: Car wont start
With something like this that the seller says has had the wiring messed with , your just gonna have to start at square one when you get it and troubleshoot why the noid light is on constant . It could be the ECM . It could be hacked wiring . Either way you won't know till you get it and by all means do NOT fix it before papers have changed hands ! (money for Title , in other words) . I have seen folks get non running cars started cause they wanted to hear them run before buying them only to find the price just instantly raised on the now running car .
PS , In my humble opinion $2K is about $500 to $1K more than I would pay for a non running car that has been extensively messed around with as this one sounds to have been , but that's just me .....
