I've recently been working on a 92 camaro rs 305 5.0 tbi, it had been sitting for 8 years and I started to work on it and I have now finished everything to get it in a running state. I replaced the fuel pump and cleaned the lines. I replaced the fuel filter as well and put new oil and filter. I drained the radiator and cleaned it as well. I recently tried cranking it and the turned on but it does not stay on. Any ideas on what I can do to fix it and what may be causing it to turn off?

Hey there, I've got my own 91 Formula 305 TBI that I've gotten running over the summer.
Mind you, this is the first mechanical experience I've ever had, but I'm starting to feel familiar with a few things at least. I would highly recommend buying the factory service manual for the car if you can get it.

I got the one for my Firebird for $25 because I found an auction where I was the only bidder. It's absolutely been my bible and there hasn't been a single issue I couldn't teach myself to solve from it.
But anyway, going on what you've said here, have you had someone verify both injectors are spraying when you turn the car over? Have you done a full "tune up" procedure and replaced spark plugs? How long does the car stay on before dying?
It's highly possible your only issue is to do with a combination of sensors in the throttle body unit. The IAC (Idle Air Control) might need to be replaced along with the TPS (Throttle position sensor) and then go through the Idle air reset procedure found here in the how to's, or you can google it for TBI engines.
Also, try giving her some throttle after she fires up. This might help clear or confirm whether it's the IAC or not, since you technically won't be at "idle".
I replaced my own IAC and TPS and ill admit the TPS was a bitch and a half to set for me, and for the idle air reset you may end up having to use a drill to drill out part of the throttle body unit because the screw they put in there to adjust the idle is protected from the factory. Go fricken figure.
If you let me have my morning cup of coffee I can possibly scan in or work with you off of my manual which should be exactly identical considering the same engines.

I'm not absolutely sure the injectors are spraying, I had a feeling it was the fuel pressure regulator or the relay, it turned on and I stepped on the gas a bit and it reved up a bit but then turned off. Can I ask what will the IAC fix and what it does and the TPS. I have switched out the spark plugs but once again it won't stay on. Can it be no fuel is going to the engine?

I would definitely take this one step at a time and verify for a fact that you can see the injectors spraying. just take the top off the air cleaner and have someone start the car or look themselves and you can very clearly see if fuel is being sprayed down.
You want to work with one system at a time. Fuel, Air, Spark. Once you know fuel is making it into the engine then you can move on to one of the others. If it sat it could be any number of things well beyond my knowledge and skillset. My best advice would be to search the forums for posts like your issue (I know those exist, I had similar issues). and definitely consider picking up the manual for your car. If you're willing to do the research it takes time but is a lot better than just throwing money at parts like I did initially.
Google, Service manuals, and the forums have never failed me thus far.

Thank I appreciate it, I don't think any gas is going to injectors at all so I have to figure out why and my pump isnt working and it's brand new so that's another problem to tackle but I'll figure it out.

Just take it one step at a time. You may want to learn how to jump the fuel pump relay which will force the fuel pump to turn on and youll be able to hear it in the fuel tank if its working. You might want to remove the fuel filter if its inline under the car like me and then force the fuel pump on... with a bucket to catch fuel if it comes out. if it does, congrats. Then make sure you put the filter back on the right way and work your way forward.
Would you know how I can jump the relay ? And it sucks I've done a lot of work on it so I'm trying to figure what I can do and where I can start to get it back into running state

Us e these 2 diagrams to determine if your pump is running. If you apply 12 volts to the ALDL terminal shown in the diagram, the pump should run. If it does, then start the car and see if it continues to run. Let us know.
Fixed the problem with the pump not working, the connecter on the fuel assembly would come off not letting any electricity go through, fixed it now the pump primes. My next problem is the gas not getting to the tbi and I've cranked it with some started fluid, it turns on but won't stay running. What can be causing no fuel to the engine? The fuel filter is also new and it's on the correct way I have clean lines. I just don't know what it'd be, a flame came from the top of the tbi a few times and a pop can heard. What can I do to fix this problem??

Hmmm...Since the filter is new (not rusted on, or hard to get off), I'd be tempted to take the filter off, put a catch can in place, and turn the key on...see if you are getting a good strong flow of fuel to the filter.
Strange that you would get a flame and pop (backfire?) if no fuel is being sprayed at the injectors.

I'll try that next, and yeah a fire. I'm running out of options, I don't know why gas won't go.
I got fuel to the tbi ! Long story short there was a clog I got the fuel through. Good news fuel is going, bad news is it's leaking from one injector badly and im sure it needs to be replaced. Also would anyone know where I can purchase the screws to the tbi pod ? One broke and I really need it I'll check my local junkyard but I need it so won't leak more.
