Passenger Fender Wiring
Passenger Fender Wiring
Long story short, started my first project didn't label any of the original wiring from the car. Have this whole harness that runs from just behind the passenger side fender up through it and into the car.
I have tried searching google and used the search function on the forum here to see what it could be, but I am at a lose.
Any help would be great, thanks.

Re: Passenger Fender Wiring
Sounds rather like the ECM harness. Connects the engine control computer to all of its sensors, solenoids, etc.

Is the large harness in the first photo the one you are speaking of? Of so, yes, ECM harness.

Here's a link that covers the C207 plug for most Thirdgen Camaro & Firebirds.....

Re: Passenger Fender Wiring
Hey guys thanks for the help, I finished up sorting through the wiring this weekend. Used the Haynes manual, and it turns out that it was just some emissions wiring that I dont need.
It was a rather large connector but only 3 wire, 2 greens and a black , just ran on the passenger side inner fender into the car.
Should have taken pictures

Re: Passenger Fender Wiring
Are you in the USA ??
Sounds like your working on an "EXPORT" thirdgen. The wiring you describe at that spot ( 2 green & a black wire ) sounds like factory non-ECM TCC lock-up wiring.

Re: Passenger Fender Wiring
If you removed that C207 fender plug / wiring than you will no longer have TCC lock-up.
If you removed that stuff without hacking it up,..... I'd be interested in the harness and solenoid. The wiring should run to a solenoid on a firewall bracket and then down to the tranny plug:

The wiring should look something like this:

Yours might - or might not - have the orange & purple wires with the relay. I think the harness in that pic is from an export Trans Am - but I could be wrong.

Re: Passenger Fender Wiring
the orange and purple stuff at the top of the pic i dont have, the green wires to the 4 hole conectors and the black to the one flat wire connector i have and the big squard block connector the was attached the the body i have. I removed the entire thing as 1 peice and blocked off the hole in the car.
Re: Passenger Fender Wiring
Also the thing on the firewall you circled does not look familiar at all. This could possibly be because the previous ower swap the 700r4 out for a th300? And maybe he removed that stuff the guy was a real hack job and talked a big game but anything he did to the car didnt make sense.

Re: Passenger Fender Wiring
I'm thinking the Orange/Purple wiring in my pic above is for the oil pressure switch and gauge...... based on that big 3 pin connector.
The part of the system that I circled in the engine bay is actually the only part of the set-up that I need. ( Solenoid, it's plug and wiring to the tranny. ) The other wiring/plugs don't matter to me cause I will need to customize that end of the harness in my case.
Yes,.... No need for lock-up with a th300 tranny ! Since the tranny was swapped than there's a good chance the solenoid was removed at that time. He would have disconnected the tranny plug and probably just ripped out the solenoid end of the harness and cut the wires short @ the body "connector" that you ended up removing. A lot of guys cut the wires short & leave that thru-the-body "block connector" in place rather than dealing with patching that hole when the ECM is removed.
