Engine temp sending unit
I have an 82 Z28 that I recently purchased and have been fixing up a bit at a time. Someone had installed a trio of mechanical gauges and mounted them on the side of the console, just where my leg rests while driving. I got rid of those and bought a new sending unit. The new unit has two wires. Is this car supposed to have a one or two wire unit, as I can only find one wire in the engine compartment that affects the gauge.
I put power to the gauge and it will go up and down correctly.
The auto parts store swears they gave me the correct sending unit, but I am having my doubts.

The temp sending unit should only have one wire if you have the temp guage and not just an light for over heating. The Z28 does come with the guage so changes are you picked up the wrong sending unit

Thanks for the responses. Went back to Autozone and got the correct sending unit. Now all is well.
Sorry it took me so long to say thanks, but this has been the week from $#&* at work. Haven't had time to do anything but eat, sleep and work. Again, thanks...
