Turn Signal Problem

This morning during my short commute to work, i noticed that my right turn indicator arrow would turn on real quick for half a second intermittently, and sometimes it would stay on for maybe a second or two.

At first I thought it was the turn signal lever, but i couldn't get it to happen again by wiggling the lever or smacking the steering wheel. I think it was only happening while i was going over small bumps on the road.

When I parked, I tried both left and right turn signals, and they worked, hazards worked too.

What should my first steps be in diagnosing this issue? I tried reading the electrical diagram http://austinthirdgen.org/mkportal/m...ody_wiring.gif , and i tried simplifying it to this:

Re: Turn Signal Problem

I just found out that the right turn signal starts doing its thing when the headlights are on.

On another note I popped the hood and noticed that every time I turn the right turn signal on, there is a relay that starts clicking, it clicks for a few seconds, then stops. It only does it on the right turn signal. It seems to be the fog relay that is clicking.

Re: Turn Signal Problem

So I pulled the relay, and the click stopped completely. The terminals on the relay were a very pretty "statue of liberty" green. Which, although it looks great on a statue, probably doesn't do much for conductivity.

Sadly, this didnt fix my wonky headlight/flasher issue. The right turn signal is still blinking after i turn on the headlights. I thought the headlights and turn signals were on 2 different circuits with 2 different fuses?

Re: Turn Signal Problem

I don't have my flashlight, so i couldn't do much, but i did wiggle the harness on the front turn signal and it doesn't seem to have done anything.

Is there a trick to getting to the turn signals on the front? my hands are real fat!

I haven't checked the rear turn signal either.

I did check the signal on the fender, and that one was burned out for at least a year, so i removed the bulb, and tucked the harness back into the hole.

Could a dirty bulb socket cause it to do this?

Edit: Just re-read your message. Where are the grounds located?
