Fuel, Volts, Temp gauges not working
I had my alternator out and ever since I put it back in, my fuel gauge is all over the place. Reads empty, then past full and sometimes slowly moving in between. My volts read about 9 and the temp just sits at 40. I checked the actual voltage and it's fine. This all happened after the alt went back in. Wondering what the commonality is?

You didn’t mention the model and year so this info is generic.
If you have a normal (non digital) dash there’s no way R&R’ing the alt can damage the instruments.
Even reversing the polarity can’t.
If it’s a digital dash then that weakens the system.
If you have a normal (non digital) dash the most likely cause of the problem is a bad ground.
Squeeze behind the dash, make sure the connectors are tight and use an ohmmeter to make sure the grounds are making good contact.
