Lighting on A.C. head question?

Hey guys on my 87 Camaro did they only have one light for that and it was to the right. It seems the right hand side lights up great and the left not so much...dimmer. I took out the controller box and I was expecting those little bulbs that we use that light up the Speedo etc..but no apparently. I also found a thread that says they were made poorly and only lite up the right side and u got what u got...

Correct. One light on the right. Firebirds had two. You can get more light by replacing the incandescent bulb with an L.E.D. one.

Would it be in this little hole right here for the light...where is that sucker located at...also it felt kind tight when I was trying to take out the control head...I'm afraid to pull too far...is it just usually the wires are kind kinked back in there well...or do you need to get at this at the side and underneath to take the control head off?

You can pull out the HVAC controls enough to get to the bulb. Just don't yank on it. There's electrical, vacuum lines and a cable attached to the controls.

One of these will work okay? Got the bulb out...had to spin...not pull lol.

Re: Lighting on A.C. head question?

Hey guys, update! So I got some super bright LED bulb . Man that thing lights up WAYYYYY brighter...much much better!

For new ppl reading this...I was only able to pull out my AC control head unit about an inch or so...also I kinda moved it to the right as much as possible...also the light socket TURNs and does not really pull out...so turn it and then it comes out....and of course with the LED bulb I put it in....reinstalled and IT DIT NOT WORK! I was like what the heck...something told me to try the bulb turned around...and it work...jee imagine that ha. Weird

You've actually got the "better" HVAC unit,..... IIRC the early style Camaro HVAC units didn't have the 3 little "windows" (HIGH/FAN/LOW) for back-lighting on the Left side.

Good catch. Shocking how I knew there was something different between the HVAC in my 83 & 84 vs the 87, but I just couldn't put my finger on it.
