While you were changing plugs you accidentally created a short and blew a fusible link.
You can use a voltmeter to find the blown one.
Fusible Links usually look like a one inch plastic rod in line with the wire and are located near the battery or at the starter.
Using a test light (the type for testing for voltage, not a continuity tester) probe both sides (one side at a time) of the ACC fuse.
If there is power both sides, the problem is a bad connection from the fuse output to the items you mentioned, and the problem is near the fuse block.
If there is NO power both sides, the problem is a bad fusible link near the battery, or the wire going to it.

The ACC fuse has nothing to do with the headlights.
We told him about the ACC fuse in case after replacing the link which will restore the headlights, he has no ACC’s, to test that fuse.

Re: 84 Z28 headlights...
After trying to find diagrams and what not of fuses modules and what not and after today finding nothing I did think about the fusible link. I had a Dodge Dakota back a 96, couple years later just died while driving. My mechanic at the time told me it was the fusible link. Made me think. So, this should be near the battery, Yes? thanks you guys

Re: 84 Z28 headlights...
connection. If the fan works it's the switch.
What temp are you reaching when it's not going on? The stock switch doesn't turn on the fan until 238 degrees or so. Did it work before this?
Re: 84 Z28 headlights...
it will over heat in 10 mins with car in park. I did the fusible link yesterday and everything is back on, but the elec.door locks want to lock and unlock about every 30 seconds or so, even when the car is off. those buttons will not control them at all. I was actually looking for the link to see how "fun" it would be to get at and change, only to find I forgot it when reconnecting the wires back to the starter that wire touched the positve lead to the starter and I heard the locks try to lock. I disconnected to battery and reconnected that wire and everything came back on. today I am just going to unplug the power to those "motors" so I don't have to keep removing the fuse when I am not in the car.
Re: 84 Z28 headlights...
the fan switch I replaced for the fan was on the driver side, was directed to it from an automotive store chat online, was given link to that page where I then bought it. this is 84 z28.

Re: 84 Z28 headlights...
sounds like you replaced the sender for the temp gauge. Do you have a sensor looking thing in the same spot on the passenger side head? It would be between the last two plugs. That is the fan switch. Do that test with grounding the wire with key on. What happens?
Re: 84 Z28 headlights...
I want to say thanks to those that have helped me. My huge issue I need to resolve is she is sucking gas like crazy. Would this me a carb issue? The float, the bober that plugs the hole where the gas enters the carb. I need to get the timing adjusted. when I start it hot it runs 5000 rpms or lower and sometimes will stall. Back to the carb, been going though a tankful in about 60 mi.

Re: 84 Z28 headlights...
Are you sure your sending unit in the fuel tank is working correctly? Because burning 15ish gallons in 60 miles would mean 4 miles per gallon. . . . .
I would get your timing right first, then worry about all the other issues. Make a list and systematically work through it.
I would get rid of the electric fan and put the stock fan and clutch back on it, they're simple and they work.

Re: 84 Z28 headlights...
Hi, I guess I will have someone check the timing asap and then the sending unit, everything underneath the hood is original except for an engine rebuild back in 99. So, you don't think it would be anything involving the carb?

Re: 84 Z28 headlights...
Could totally be something with the Carb, I would just troubleshoot the electronics first since they are finicky.
i.e. if when you fill up you know you're putting 15 gallons in each time then you know your sending unit is fine, check that off the list.
Those came from the factory with a clutch fan, sounds like someone put the electric in with the rebuild.

Re: 84 Z28 headlights...
The clutch fan wasn't changed when the engine was rebuilt, I may have done it years ago, can't remember that far back. I will try to make an appointment for Friday to get the sending unit and the timing checked.
