89 Camaro won't start?
Well, A family member left me this pretty nice 89 5L V8 Camaro, Only problem is... It doesn't start. And she's had multiple people "try to fix it" over the last few years it's been sitting. I'm not sure what they did or changed.
Here's a summary of what's going on...
Towed from her place to mine,
charged the battery which she said is pretty much new, but it was left connected and dead for 3 or 4 years.
Now, here's the issue:
Turning the key will unlock the steering wheel, the car will give it's ringing sound when the key is in, Fasten Belt and handbreak indicators come on, and when the key is turned to the cranking position, the temp gauge shoots up and that's all. Nothing else seems to happen, I can hear what sounds like the fuel pump making a sound, and a single "click" every time I turn the key.
I'm not extremely versed in cars, but my partner helping me with this suggested the Neutral Safety Switch as the issue possibly, could this be?
Thanks.

If you aren’t up to speed on reading wiring diagram and/or your tracing/probing skills aren’t there, you are going to need to pay someone who knows what they are doing to do it for you.
It’s not like, “Oh yeah,... 89 Camaro no-crank condition, first thing to check is the neutral safety switch.”

Yep, I see what you mean, But I'm gonna give it a go before having someone else look at it, Thanks for the diagrams, They will definitely help.

My first suspicion if you have power only to some components, and no crank whatsoever would be the fusible link.
