I can make you the correct memcal for your car or I might have one ready to go.
I have tons of files for tpi tuning.
Or you can view the selection at tpi parts.net

You can also see the different codes here.
A lot will work for the same application. Aujm is a good tune for 89 tpi 350 automatic. I’m assuming your looking for a memcal for your profile 89.

Re: 89 L98 EPROM
Well this all started with me having TPI issues replacing some sensors. All resolved now but I now have an extra ECM. I am wanting to buy a spare stock chip to keep as a spare in second ECM. It would be nice to have some modes like the VATS turned off etc.. Maybe its just the EPROM I need. Its the stock blue chip. I'm no ECM tune expert my no means. I did use WINALDL to read the codes and sensor data.
Mine is an 89TPI 5.7 L98 ECM 7165

Re: 89 L98 EPROM
I do have the apyn file and can burn you a chip . I have v6 memcals I can make work for $75 shipped or a real tpi maf memcal for $120. Both th function the same but limp home might suffer on the v6 modified one. I can disable the vats, lower the fan on and offs and adjust your torque converter clutch to lockup higher rpm say 55mph all included in the pricing.
Let me know if I can assist.

Re: 89 L98 EPROM
I just read up on limp home. I don't think that would be a problem? Sounds like its sort of dumb feature. So the V6 chip will run my 350 TPI fine with the mentioned changes? Sounds like the best option would be the 120.00 option.

Re: 89 L98 EPROM
The ecm hardly ever goes into limp home mode. The prom would have to fail which is a rare occurrence. The v6 one will work fine or your money back after you try it.

Re: 89 L98 EPROM
PM me the details to order the v6 chip with the changes you mentioned and anything else that would be good to turn off/mod. I will buy a second one after I try the first one. That way I will have 2 ECM's the same.

Re: 89 L98 EPROM
Not to Hijack..........PM if you wish "Tuned performance" IF I replace the stock 305 TPI with Reman L98 Long Block, in my '89 IROC Z, Ca. AT car, can you sell me a PROM that will run with "OE Driveability" and pass Ca. SMOG? I've been told I should use 22# injectors, a 350 Knock Sensor, and updated PROM. Thanks.

22 pound injectors are correct for the 350, whereas the 305 used 19 pound. So yeah, you'll need new injectors. You will additionally definitely need an L98 PROM.

Re: 89 L98 EPROM
@Tremo I don’t know which bcc is better for performance or to reduce emissions.
The stock time is trying to target 128 blm so I assume there is very little differences between the different bccs.
You can compare the bin using tunerpro rt to see the differences.
the $32,$32b and $6e masks bins can be found at gearhead efi .
@mikeceli
Your correct on the needed parts. A stock tune for a 350 would pass emissions with a mild cam. I have done datalogging with a member on tgo and got his vortec head hot cam engine to pass.

It would be neat if there were switchable proms, you could have one for smog test days, then throw the switch and use a custom tune the rest of the time.
I was a bit surprised to see like 4 different proms for the same engine and transmission, same year, blah blah blah same. I wonder what the real differences were. If they pass Cali emissions there can't be a great deal of difference.
Cali treadmill test is strange, they run the car like you would not drive it normally. 15 mph in second gear and then 25 mph in 2nd gear. Engine is turning like 2500 at 25 mph. At 25 mph I'm normally just shifting into 4th. Or stay in 3rd if I'm on an incline or accelerating to a higher speed..
