Best EPROM chips to use?

Folks,

What are people having good luck with chip-wise? I've been having some problems, and might blame it on the chips. Could be bad batch, could just be my head in the sand. Nonetheless, I'm ready to go ahead & try some others & would like some advice.

I have AMD AM27C128-155's. I'd really like to hear what brand, type, and speed of chip people are having good liuck with in the F-bodies! If you'd had some bad experiences, let's hear about them as well!

Thanks,
Craig

I've had good success with AMD, ST, and TI chips. I once had a batch of Cypress chips, and they were complete JUNK.

I've been using the Fairchild Semiconductors 27C256 chip that has an access speed of 90ms.

Anyone else? Any bad experiences /w/ vendors selling defective pulls or anything? I'm thinking Jameco or Digikey...

I just bought 10 pulls from Astro Marketing for $2 each. They are Hitachi 2732A's. A little wider than the GM eprom. All of them work fine so far.

Well, I got the new chips in - TI 27C128-12's (120ns). They took the code (on a fast PC /w/ PocketPro, 2-pass 200-pulse), it verified on the programmer AND through the '165 ALDL. Worked like a charm!

ALDL comm is very stable compared to the previous AMD 27c128-155ns. I was really having some problems - timeouts, bad CSums, COMM loss... Actually, the AMD 150ns I had were somewhat OK, but it looks like the 120ns TI's are rock solid in comparison.

Don't know if it's the speed, some quirk of the lot (anyone else seen 155's?), or what, just rendering my experience for future reference by others.

Thanks to all for the feedback!

I just bought and programmed some AMD 27C128-120ns chips since some of the ones I had weren't taking a program at all. They worked beautifully just like your new TI chips do. I bought them from JRD (www.jdr.com) for $4 each.
