Rewiring a 91 camaro
Rewiring a 91 camaro
So I'm in the process of rewiring my 91 camaro. i plan on buying a Painless wiring harness.
First question is how much of the old harness do i have to keep?
Second I have so many more questions but i don't know what they are yet lol

Lets start with these:
Why are you rewiring the entire car?
When you say the entire car are you only referring to the interior?
Are you deleting anything electrical in the interior?
Do you have a complete interior harness?

lol thanks. the guys who had the car before me did a complete hack job on their im assuming 305 or vs swap to 350 lt1. i kinda understand y the they did a wack job in the engine bay but the more i dive into the car the more i see cut, splices, wire nutted wire that go from nowhere through a fuse and lands nowhere. and this is on the interior. i can began to figure out where these wire originally went to. I can't find a complete harness meaning interior nor can i find a diagram to tell me what i'm looking at.. Its dont really want to delete anything i want it to be a cruiser so i want everything that came in the car to remain if possible. and no i don't have a complete harness yet
Re: Rewiring a 91 camaro
Best bet is to buy a factory Service Manual, either a used copy on Ebay, or Rock Auto has some on CD. Then you'll be able to research what is what. Usually once you rip out all the leftover wires from corny led neon lights, stereos, CBs, radar detectors, blah blah, the harness isn't as bad as ya thought. If it can't be saved, try to find someone parting a very similar car locally, OR check Ebay, OR post a thread in the Parts Wanted thread. You'll be miles ahead of a universal Painfull wiring harness.

With the aide of a service manual or a haynes/chiltons and austinthirdgen.org's wiring schematics just about any interior and engine wire harness can be made to work. Look for a stock harness at junkyards and online via this website, craigslist or ebay
