park/neutral switch rewiring on 700r4 to T5
Here the deal:
I have a 86 firebird that had a 700r4 and I'm am now changing it to the T5. I am working on the switch rewiring. in my repair book it shows in the wiring diagram with the ignition wires (purple/yellow pair) split with a { going to the two different switches the one labeled M/T and one A/T. Next to the M/T it shows the clutch start switch and by the A/T it shows the park/neutral start switch with the purple/yellow pair going in to it. The is an other Park/neutral switch for that is connected to the ECM but there is not a corresponding Clutch start switch that goes to the ECM. Any way my question is: does the ECM park switch need to be connected into the clutch switch? Maybe that ECM switch has something to do with the TCC and I won’t even need it, I don’t know. Does any body have any idea what to do?
Thanks

With my bird all I did run two wires from the park/neutral switch conectior in the console to the clutch switch on the pedals, it will give you the same (push in the clutch to start the car action) as a normal manual car.

The wire to the ECM is grounded in P or N, and as far as I know, tells the ECM to increase the RPM in P or N. So, if you are installing a T5, you would probably want to leave it disconnected & the idle will be fixed at 600 rpm, or so.

To tell you the truth my car idles fine with the clutch in or out. Just make sure you let it idle down when you first start the car and before you move, or when you let off the gas it will stay at a higher RPM and it wont idle down properly until you let it sit. Between(1800-1200)rpm

As indicated above, RPM increases in P or N with the switch closed (ECM wire grounded).

After you do what I said your car will operate like a normal manual car with no idle problems and it will idle down properly, just to let you know.
