Interior wiring problem with my 86 TA

Hi guys, I have a few issues going on in my car that may or may not be related to each other: my driving dash lights aren't working, emergency brake, seat belt, and service engine lights work, all gauges but the temp (far right) work. When the headlight switch turns on the radio lights go out, and the right turn signal indicator comes on solid, power locks and mirrors do not work but are hooked up. It has an original harness and all original wires all except one which is connected to ground wires coming out of the main harness, and runs to the shift tunnel where it is grounded. There is one connector not hooked up under dash it's yellow and purple, I will try to attach a picture. Any help would be appreciated. Thx!

If memory serves, some Birds have an electronic dash light control module. Sounds like that's one of your problems.

Yellow/purple = clutch safety starter switch. You must have an auto trans, in which case the one for the clutch isn't used; the same function is provided by the park/neutral SSS. People with stick cars ask the same question all the time about the corresponding connector in the console.

Right turn signal on solid when parking lights are on = the contacts of a light bulb are shorted together. Take a careful look at every park/tail/TS bulb and socket. Might be as simple as, a bulb is turned 90° from where it should be in the socket.

At the top left of your photo, a number of pink and orange wires are plugged into something. That something is a power distribution block, and those wires power accessories that are supposed to work at all times (orange) or only when the key is on (pink). This includes power seats, power mirrors, power door locks, and so forth. Each of these various subsystems has its own wire supplying power to it, since each one is a stand-alone option, as far as building the car. Check each of them for power right there at those plugs; you'll probably find that a whole bunch don't have it. At that point you can trace back toward the batt and/or ign sw to find what's disconnected, cut, burned up, blown, or whatever. Whatever you do, DO NOT start cutting and/or splicing wires!!!! Find the problem and fix it, not hack the car up.
