Help diagnosing High speed blower

Hi guys awhile back I pulled all the ac stuff from my car minus the harness. In an effort to clean things up I've installed the non-ac box and a new delco blower motor. I have also un-bypassed my heater core and installed a new unit (old one was leaking) Today I installed the resistor into the box and plugged it in. Also got a new relay - I think its called the high speed relay, and plugged that in too. (On a side note at the parts store they noted this relay was for automatic temperature control which I dont believe I have. However the other relay option was round or oval shaped and would not fit my connector) What I thought was the ground wire for the blower motor (Black wire with plastic female spade connector) does not seem to be a ground (test light from this wire to power did nothing) so Ive got a short wire going from the body of the motor directly to the body of the car. Only thing that remains unplugged is the round plug which went to the ac (condensor?) And that existing black ground wire which is capped. So I have all my speeds except for high speed. Any insight on getting my high speed working, or where to begin looking? My electrical experience level is Beginner so I could definitely use some help!! However I am pretty happy to have at least some functionality from my heating system at the moment.

PS I do have diagrams in my chiltons manual and also realize there are a lot of blower motor related topics on this board but since i have this issue narrowed down to everything functioning except for the high speed I thought maybe we could skip some of the more generic starter points addressing the system as a whole...if that makes sense, not trying to sound snotty. Thanks in advance guys

Look at the high speed relay connector. There will be a big fat red wire in it. Follow that wire toward the driver's side. About right above the pass side valve cover you will find a connector. Unplug that and tell us what you find. Or better yet, take a pic of it.
