1992 Firebird starter issue

I recently swapped out the 305 TBI to 350 carbureted. The computer is out as well. I turn the key lights come on but the starter does nothing. Battery is good and charged, lights are bright. I can jump it at the starter and it's works fine If I followed the wires correctly I find a heavy purple and green wire attached

Since you have a 1992 , you have VATS (called "pass key" in this diagram) . If you eliminated or somehow otherwise disabled VATS , you have to jump out the VATS starter enable relay , located behind the plastic kick panel to the left of your left foot when sitting in the driver's seat . Here is a handy wiring diagram (of your car) showing the VATS relay circuit at the lower righthand side of the drawing . It is the Yellow and Dark Green wires specifically that need to be jumped ....
