Speedometer: works SOMETIMES

Occasionally, when I start up, the speedo doesn't work- just lays there like my ex-wife! Then, while I'm driving, suddenly it starts working. Anyone have a fix or idea of the problem?

VSS Mess

It can be a loose connection anywhere from the VSS to the inside of the IP, but most likely a failing VSS or bad connection going to it.

This one is going to take good old fashioned looking and wiggling wires.

You can inject a signal into the VSS connector then trace and wiggle until the problem occurs.

Happy Racing !

Re: Speedometer: works SOMETIMES

You *might* also have some bad teeth on the speedo gears. Only way to know is to pull the VSS from the tail-shaft housing and inspect BOTH of the speedo gears. ( 1 on sensor and 1 inside the sensor hole on tail-shaft. )
