Just out of curiosity, I was wondering if it is possible to swap in the digital gauges from the trans am into my 86 Z28 as I think that they look really badass. If so, what would I need and how challenging would it be? Thanks!

 

You could do it using a parts car and swapping everything over harness by harness. There is a member on here that added the dash to his 91 firebird by doing a lot of repinning. The thread is called doing digital dash the hard way. Personally, I would not do the swap. It is a firebird thing. The dash says Pontiac, the image of a car is a firebird, etc.

 

You'll need the dash carrier from the Firebird, so it would be easy enough to do the dash swap with all the wiring from a donor car, then adjusting the headlight harness to work with the 4, non-popup, headlights and the different signal locations. I have seen multiple harness/dash take outs on Facebook boards of late.

Personally, I think if you have to ask, you probably don't have the skillset needed to complete the swap. If you still feel like you do, then get the factory manual for both your car and the donor so you can make informed decisions on what wiring will be needed.

 

There comes a time when you decide if you really want a Camaro, or a Firebird. If you want the Firebird dash so bad, buy a Firebird. Then you can sell your Camaro, or get the urge out of your system, or have both.
